Pharmacies in Ukraine are now accepting cryptocurrency payments via Binance Pay, according to an announcement by ANC Pharmacy, one of the country’s largest pharmacy chains. Customers can now pay for pharmacy products online using Binance Pay, with the new payment option initially rolling out in Kyiv and available at ANC pharmacies and affiliated stores, Kopiyka and Shara. To make a payment, users must download the Binance app and visit ANC’s website, where they can select a product to order and pay using Binance Pay. The payment can then be picked up at a preferred location.
This move makes ANC Pharmacy, Kopiyka, and Shara “the first pharmacies in Europe to accept crypto,” the announcement said. The partnership with Binance Ukraine comes as the country continues to adopt cryptocurrency payments amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. Binance has been actively expanding its presence in Ukraine in recent years, with the supermarket chain Varus partnering with the exchange in September 2022 to allow customers to pay for groceries through the Binance Pay Wallet. In February 2022, Binance Ukraine’s general manager, Kirill Khomyakov, told Cointelegraph that launching a Binance Card in Ukraine was a top priority for the year.
